Anti-Idling Initiative

ACAP Saint John and the Uptown Saint John Environment Committee have partnered in a new anti-idling campaign for the uptown area. Bilingual signs have been made to encourage motorists to reduce their emissions by turning off idling vehicles. The signs, which state “Thank you for not idling / Merci pour arretez votre moteur”,will be placed in the windows of participating businesses in the uptown area, beginning with those located on Germain Street. A limited number of signs are available, so interested business owners are encouraged to contact ACAP Saint John as soon as possible. Signs can also be downloaded (in pdf. format) and printed for display in residences and automobile windows. The anti-idling project aims to reduce the emissions of green house gases, decrease the concentration of air-borne toxins, and improve overall air quality in uptown Saint John.
